So, I was trying to be deep with a lady friend of mine and decided to pick her brain.....I asked her, whats your take on the relationship between the state and religion?
Her reply:
It's kind of strange. But since America has all kinds of people I don't think religion should be involved in policy making. However, our forefathers who wrote the Constitution and other important political documents did so taking religion in consideration. But this whole thing about political figures having to express that they believe in God and pray that God will help them make the right decisions is something that should not be public information. That is a personal choice and it kind of segregates other people who do not believe.
My reply:
Christianity is the foundation of this country and our forefathers did in fact use religion in the development of laws. Politicians have every right to publicly express that they believe in God and pray they make the right decisions. The reason I say this is simply because Politicians are making decisions that impact the entire country..ie the people....and I don`t know about you, but I feel good that a man/woman is making laws based on Christian morale rather than proposing laws based solely after his/her own heart. Christianity is based off of freedom of choice and that freedom is what sets the U.S apart from all other countries. Religion is expressed in every legal document, the Pledge of Allegiance, the dollar bill, and the list goes on..... Freedom is the reason so many foreigners die to come to the U. S, I don't feel religion/Christianity segregates those who don`t believe, but merely state our/U.S founding beliefs as a country. BUT when we allow foreigners to come into the U.S we should consider their religious views as well, but not when it comes to making laws. That's what they have their own country for. In past years it seems as if the U.S are trying to separate religion/Christianity from state by taking prayer out of schools, attempting to remove "In God we trust" from our currency, and changing the Pledge of Allegiance.... I don`t know how these changes will affect us down the road, but I did notice how school murders dramatically increased, just after prayer was taken out of school. The U.S began at the bottom of the barrel compared to other countries, but the U.S created a solid foundation by combining state and religion and it has stood the test of time.
Her Reply:
I feel you and that's what I was saying that our country was founded based on religion, but the whole reason why America was founded was because people wanted to get away from the religious prosecution under the King of England. America was founded for religious freedom and it just happened to be Christianity that many people believed in. Saying that, since America opens its doors to all people and there is no set religion in America we have to be sensitive to that fact. That's good that our political figures do believe in God, but making them state their religion is another thing. I just think it was gotten out of hand and there is a thin line between separating church and state. Right now that is the law of the land, so I think we should all respect that.

I'd Like to Make a Dedication....
I’d like to make a dedication to you people. Yes, you people. You know who you are. You people who treat the bathroom at work with no respect because you don’t have to clean it up. I don’t care what your bathroom at home looks like because I don’t have to use it. This is not a daycare; there is no excuse for there to be pee on the floor, the toilet, or anywhere else, or boogers on the wall. Yes, I have seen that before in a workplace bathroom! So this one goes out to you people that need to stop and think how you would feel if you had to clean that bathroom 3 times a day. And one more thing, for God’s sake wash your hands when you are finished. You are the kind of people that talk on your cell phone while sitting on the toilet. I’m pretty sure you are the same people that sit in a public bathroom and sound like you are giving birth. It can’t be that serious and nobody wants to hear it. If it hurts that bad, you should probably see a doctor or something. What is wrong with you people?
I’d like to make another dedication. This one goes out to you people that think because you watch SportsCenter and/or because you are older than me that you know everything about sports and are always right. Just because they are your team doesn’t mean they are the greatest. So, you people can be fans, that’s cool, just be a realistic and rational fan. If your team sucks, just be honest with yourself. If you people would just do your research/homework on the topic you would sound so much smarter, instead of just spilling out illogical and just plain ignorant assertions and opinions. Sports are pretty much what I do with my free time, if I’m not watching something about them I am reading about them. So there is nothing more annoying to me than that middle aged man, yall know the type!, that sits at the lunch table making all these ridiculous comments, failing to see the error in his ways. You look and sound like such an idiot to everyone but yourself and that one cosigning homeboy you brought with you. And if you are wrong or someone makes a good point, just acknowledge that for what it is, you don’t have to be right all the time. You people know who you are so get it together!

Complaining Ass People!
Stop me if you know somebody like this whether guy or girl.
You:" Yo dawg I know this house party tonight, they got free drinks and chicks."
That Guy: "Where is it? What kind of drinks? What the chicks look like? Who all gonna be there?"
You: "Damn never f$@cking mind!"
I can not stand people that just can't be satisfied with just having a good time. They got to know everything before they even see a damn movie! "Whose the director?" "Whose in it?" "What's the plot?" Seriously, if someone offers you some free gum, don't interrogate the person about the damn gum. Eat it and be thankful. Shut the "F" up! Far too many times have I missed out on things trying to get the fellas together and they have a million questions. Damn, if it's free then it's not going to hurt you to just check it out! If chicks gonna be there and it isn't your EX then who cares, there's got to be at least one winner out the bunch!
You: "Yo man I'm about to watch the game at Hooters and maybe drink one, you down?"
That Guy: "Who all going? They got any drink specials? Which one we going to?"
You: "Damn, never f$@cking mind!"
Why can't people just hangout and just be merry. Especially my fellas, whenever we do anything the first thing that comes out our mouths, "Any bitches gonna be there?"
How come women can have a ladies night out and have a great time? We can't have that without, "Any chicks gonna be there?" The only time Negros can hangout without thinking about women first is A: We playing b-ball. B: Playing the Xbox C: No more options.
Guys it isn't gay to politic or play a game of chess and talk about what going on in our lives. Trust me it isn't. Sometimes we need to get together and discuss what's happening around the world today. Maybe somebody has some insight on to what is going on that you need to hear. And for "That Guy" or "That Girl" who always complains or need to be pushed into doing anything…… word of knowledge… Nobody wants to invite you in the first place, it's just common courtesy!
Peace Out!

What gets on your nerves?
I know what gets on mine. Let’s see… where do I start? I can’t stand the high school nature of the average workplace. Why is it that a guy and a girl can’t be seen eating lunch together or talking without someone feeling the need to start a rumor that they are together or sleeping with each other or whatever they might say. However you want to put it, if people would ask about things before they start talking about it all of this could be avoided. We are all grown and should act like it. If you want to know something about me or have something to say to me, I should hear about it from you and not a million other people, while you remain anonymous. The best way to get an answer to anything is to go straight to the source. So please, let’s act our age everybody. But enough about that.
My next issue is why do all these females think they are America’s next top model? I understand ya'll want to dress nice because it might help you to feel good about yourself and I don’t blame you for that. But it gets old when ya’ll all start to look the same because you want to do what is “in” instead of just doing you and being yourself. Not to mention, a lot of the stuff ya’ll call fashionable is just plain ugly. If you can’t walk in heels, stop wearing them because it’s not fly if it looks like each step is a struggle. Ya’ll know who you are. And for the sake of us all, please be conscious of your body type and realize that just because something is fashionable and in your size doesn’t mean you should be wearing it. For example, there is a reason why they are called skinny jeans. If they were intended for those larger ladies out there they would be called something else. And what about those belts ya’ll put around your stomach? If you got excess belly hanging out the top and bottom of that belt, you probably shouldn’t be wearing it. And if you are going to spend all that money on clothes and jewelry, please, please, please, please don’t be cheap when it’s time to get your hair done. By all means I believe females should dress nicely because I like that. It suggests you take care of yourself. But please be aware of what you can pull off and what you can’t and just be original.

Mission Impossible?
Someone the other day told me that it is truly impossible to have sex with a female and remain "just friends." Which made me think about that. What is it about sex that makes things so complicated? Men tend to think that if you put your intentions upfront that it will save all the drama, and we all heard this one before, "I'm not even looking for a man, I just want a friend." Then about a month later it turns to, "You're so mean and heartless." Whoa, whoa, what happened to you just wanting a friend? We signed a contract saying that we are going to be friends and just because you catch some feelings doesn't mean you can break that contract. Now don't get me wrong I know sex brings emotions sometime, but if you can't handle it, and you KNOW you can't handle it from the start; then why put yourself through the drama? What do you think sex is going to make a man change his mind? Do you think one day he's going to wake up and say, "You know what, I think this could grow into something." Sorry ladies but when a man says he's in this just as "Friends" then that's just what you're going to get.
Don't get me wrong I know this is not easy to do. I know women are emotional and sex heightens that, but damn, can you please just let a brother know when you're starting to catch those "I think this could grow" feelings. Give us a heads up so we can gracefully put the guidelines back up. Sure there are exceptions to this. I've seen some guys actually fall for their "Friend" and she wants nothing to do with him. I've seen dudes getting mad at their "Friend" when she goes out to dinner with another fella. There's always exceptions, but 9 times out of 10 it's the woman that catches the feelings. Seriously, if you can't handle it, then why jump into it?!
My question to the ladies is why get mad at the dude when he doesn't want to change from "Just Friends" to relationship?

What If.....?
Over the past months we've been glued in front of our television sets watching CNN carefully looking at the primaries and now the campaign for Presidency. Could anyone ever have imagined a woman President or even an African American President? It was surreal to think that America has finally moved on from the gender and racial discrepancies. Record numbers of Democratic voters came out to show that America was ready for "Change." I'm especially proud of all the African Americans that finally came out to the polls to show their support for either candidates. Just the excitement alone about what Hillary and Barack were embarking on was nothing I have ever seen in politics. We seen the Obama Girl videos, rappers like Common and Ludacris sending the message of "Change" from the pages of Obama in their lyrics. Hell, we've even seen the youtube videos of little babies saying "Obama."
Wow, there is something powerful happening in America right now. Michelle Obama said it best "Never in my adult life have I been so proud to be an American." Hell, I've never had an political figures t-shirt, but now I got two Obama shirts. Think about the last time you paid this must attention to politics. I've heard some people say this is the first time I'm ever going to vote, and I know many others, most importantly African Americans, that are going to be first time voters. Man, you really can see the pride in our faces when we think about Senator Obama as our President. Something that we can hold our heads up proudly about as African Americans, that will make a change for our generation.
But…….. What if?
What if Senator Obama doesn’t win the election? Then what? Is this our only chance to ever see an African American as President of the United States? Was Senator Clinton the only woman that will ever have the opportunity to get that close to the big ticket? I think about all the Americans right now that are so into this election. How will America cope with Obama not being our President? Imagine all the first time voters, and African Americans that finally stood up and showed that we have some say-so in the US. Can you imagine the utterly letdown. Will we go back into hiding when election comes around again in another four years? How will the world look at us, as they have clearly embraced Barack Obama as the "New Hope." I don't know about you but I'm not too confident in our electro system. There are forces unseen that just don't want America to change for the better.
So I end this asking this question. If Senator Barack Obama does not win the election, what will you do to make sure he wins in another four years? And I'm only writing this as a…. What if?

A female friend and I were discussing why men fear love….
Him: I don’t believe men are necessarily afraid to fall in love. We at times choose “NOT TOO” because we "feel" that there are so many options, so why commit to just one and miss out on a “WINNER. On the other hand, I don’t believe every chick should be considered a “legitimate option”.
Her: So why do men front like they want love?
Him: Because initially we think we’ve found the "one," but soon as a bump in the road pops up. Our mind ponder, "Man, I got plenty of women to choose from, I don’t have to accept her "short coming". Little do we no, every chick is not a “legitimate option".
Her: Or little do ya`ll know that a “BUMP,” is nothing to abandon ship about. The larger picture should always be looked at. I’m not talking about settling down with any random chick…..the chick with the 80% is who I’m talking about.
Him: So, do you believe men fear love?
Her: I think they fear deep down inside but make the excuse that there are other choices. They run to the other choices because its easier than investing time and feelings into one person. Men go for the easy, most self gratifying, quick option they can go with.
Him: Why can we as MEN “supposedly” separate emotion from sex, but fail to realize that “NOT” all chicks are legitimate options???

The Cat and Mouse Game
You know when you first meet someone and you think, "Hell yeah we hit it off, there's definitely something there." So you get the number and you two play a little phone tag. Hell, maybe you two go out for a movie or something. Weeks go by and still nothing! You two are still in the same place where you started. Now, at this point you're thinking "Damn, what hell am I doing? What do I need to say or do to get this person?" At this point you start getting a little frustrated because the whole cat and mouse game is getting a little old. All you want to hear is either,"Yeah I'm really interested in you," or "No, let's just be friends." Either scenario would be better than questioning if you're doing something right or not. Shit, "Let's just be friends"…. " Ok, since we're friends you got any friends to put me down with?" That's my response!!!!
Look can we please just say what the hell we want up front and leave the games for the kids. That's cute at first, but after a while it's like, man I'm holding my nuts for this person and missing out on the fun. And please ladies, stop with the whole Innocent act! Nobody is believing that anymore, we respect you more if you just said," Look, I'm not a slut, but I do just want to fuck."….. "Thank you, me too, I'm so glad you said that!" Now do you see all the B.S. that was saved? "Hey, I like you, you're a cool person, would you like to go out for dinner or something?"…. "Yes." How hard was that?
Come on people the games are getting old. That's how feelings get hurt when both are just playing with no finish line. Ladies be blunt…. REAL MEN CAN TAKE IT!!!!

Are We Holding Ourselves Back?
Look, I like hiphop music, urban clothes, tattoos, and different hair types just like the next man, but come on people, there is a time and place for everything. I can't guess how many times I've been embarrassed by walking through a parking lot at Wal-mart of something, and someone drives by booming some of the most ignorant music possible. You can't be blasting shit like "What These Bitches Want from a Nigga," with families walking with their little kids. You can't show up to an interview with a Forbes company wearing ten different color weaves and your cleavage hanging out. NOOOOO, no maam, and no sir. I've heard countless times about why we get stereotyped all the time. Honestly, can some of us look in a mirror and say "Damn I can't see why they didn't hire me?" Hmmm.... we on the outside can!!! Again, I'm not judging anybody's lifestyle, because only God can judge, but damn Tyrone, and Bumqysha. We got enough problems with society, how about we try to help ourselves out a little. It's ok to have one color piece of hair. Little Ray Ray, it's cool to where your pants up with a waistline that actually fits. People lets stop blaming others, because we all know we got it bad already. Let's start helping ourselves out by trying to be grown, responsible, men and women of color. We are naturally all beautiful, we don't need anything that takes away from that.
